I am taking a bit of a social media breather and decided it was about time to resurrect the old website. I have always had a hosting plan with various blog software installations, from MovableType back in the day, to standalone WordPress most recently. Now I’m moving it over to WordPress.com, where I won’t have to worry about software updates or backups. Hopefully there will be more to come, but in the meantime, you can walk down Nostalgia Avenue with me and check out the old stuff of Ellie and Evan. So cute!

Switch It Up
For better or for worse, I officially moved the blog to WordPress. Feel free to comment, because you (hopefully) can.
Update: It’s worse apparently, for now. Seems that all the images and videos are not resolving like I thought they would be, so I’ve got some fixing to do. Sorry about that.
Update 2: I think that I managed to hack a fix to most of the stuff that was broken. Still a lot of work to do, but I think it’s mostly done. Please do let me know if you find broken stuff. I imagine the Google will take a few days to get things indexed back properly too.
The New Place
Welcome to the new edition of The D’s! Let me know if you have any problems. I’m already trying to fix the aggregator that is supposed to be feeding this page and was not mixing the various blogs in correctly. Very frustrating.
Downtime
Apparently, this blog has been under assault from comment spammers lately. I only noticed because every so often, I’d get notified that an IP address had been banned due to too many comments being attempted at once. Otherwise though, all the comments went straight to the spam filter and I never saw them. However, they were still hitting me. This morning, I was notified that my account had been suspended because of the comment spammers.
I spent many hours trying to get hold of someone to fix it or let me back in, and about an hour ago, the site was back up. That’s the good news. The bad news is: no comments for a while. Not that anyone legit was leaving too many comments anyway. So, if you have a witty remark about a post of mine, you’ll have to email it to me. I think that I can probably fix this by requiring commenters to be authenticated, but honestly, I’m going to let this die down first so that I have a chance to recover, back up all my stuff, and so on. Back to normal soon, I hope.
Merry Christmas!
Upgrades
I’ve been messing around with the site a little bit. I noticed that when I posted a book review, and it got duplicated to the main page via the awesome MultiBlog plugin, the formatting was off. I decided to just reset the template and go with a built-in color scheme to make things easy on myself. As long as I was messing around with stylesheets, I redid the formatting for the book reviews. It now just uses the color scheme of the page it’s getting posted on rather than the odd greenish color. I also took off the “buy now” link. You can still click the book picture or title to get to the Amazon page for the books.
The last thing I did was implement the MultiBlog plugin for The D’s RSS feed. It’s only on the RSS 2 feed though, in case you wanted to subscribe. That means you can subscribe to one feed, and get all my news, Ellie’s, Baby #2, and and the KC D’s together. Enjoy!
Sudip on CNN
Viewer alert! My buddy Sudip Bose is going to be on CNN’s Lou Dobbs show tonight. There’s also an article on CNN.com by the same reporter in which he talks about treating Saddam Hussein right after he was captured. Good stuff.
Good news!
Go check out Sudip’s site.
Sudip has moved
Update: Thanks to a real Christmas miracle, Sudip’s domain is back. So back to sudipbose.com with your bookmarks! Hooray!
As you may have heard, we had a bit of trouble with Sudip’s page, and I had to move it to a new domain. So redirect all your bookmarks to sudip-bose.com (note the dash now).
What’s old is new
Yes, we are back to the old look. The new one just became too much of a pain and I didn’t feel much like learning it all over again. So, we’re back to the old look. Thanks for your patience.
