6, are you serious?

Yeah…First the kid is off to Kindergarten and now she turned 6. Amazing how the time flies.

We had quite the birthday weekend. Last Thursday Taylor and her class got to go on a field trip to American Royal to watch them some rodeo. That night we checked into the Great Wolf Lodge and were off to dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill. Dinner was not good – great service and good soup but the food in general was awful. I got the New Mexico Chicken and Jenn the Bison Meatloaf. Mine was pretty bland and wouldn’t recommend it but Jenn’s was worse…Terrible. Then to the lodge for some fun, if you remember, we went to the lodge last winter for Austin’s birthday and it is freaking awesome. We played in the pool for a while before Jenn and I had to play a double header for our coed volleyball league.

That was a late night so we slept in a little and had brunch at the lodge. It was a pretty good brunch buffet with an omelet station and tons of BACON(my fave) and sausage…mmmm. After letting that food settle we were back to the pool for some more water fun. Taylor loved the slides – she did the individual slides as well as the ones we could tube down together. Austin preferred climbing on the floating snake and having mom/dad try and knock him off.

So with half the day gone we did some shopping at Nebraska Furniture Mart and the Legends shops. We cut our shopping short to take in a little dinner and a movie – Game Plan (Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?). Dinner was at Granite City, way better than Ted’s ,and the movie was surprisingly better than we thought it would be. The lodge had a Halloween Trail so the kids got to get some candy and some face painting.

Saturday was Taylor’s first basketball class which she seemed to actually enjoy. then the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday was spent painting the kids’ rooms. Our last highlight was hitting the Gardner Pumpkin patch for some pumpkin launching, a hay maze, a zip line and of course picking pumpkins. Good times.

Styling her new Yankees shirt, and hopefully bringing some luck for 2008!!!

The kids pose in front of the madness. Swim float vests are awesome by the way.

And on to the painting…first stop Austin’s room. Yeah that is blue…and Taylor’s is pink.
