Evil Genius

Evil Genius Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks
My review
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I didn’t really have any expectations for “Evil Genius.” I saw it on the librarian’s cart walking past the young adult section, and I figured I would pick it up, since I had just read “Soon I Will Be Invincible.” They’re not really all that much alike. This book ignores any potential superhero aspect, and concentrates on the rearing of a potential evil genius, and all the tribulations that accompany him. It was a pretty cool book, and if I were 13 or 14 years old again, I would have loved this book, just like I loved all the Great Brain books by John Fitzgerald. As it is now though, it was entertaining, but kind of shallow and somewhat predictable, which is kind of what I expect out of the “young adult” set.
Next up is Little Children by Tom Perrotta, author of Election, which was made into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick.
