The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need

The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need The Only Investment Guide You’ll Ever Need by Andrew Tobias
My review
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was expecting this book to be dry and boring, and hard to get through, since I suck at reading non-fiction. But I was pleasantly surprised. Yes there are some boring parts (bonds, tax strategies, zzzzz), but overall Andrew Tobias lays out all your investing options in a clear manner, and he’s not afraid to come right out and tell you NOT to invest in some of them. I gleaned a good amount of advice from the book and hopefully will be putting it to good use in the future.
I also listened to Smart and Simple Financial Strategies for Busy People by Jane Bryant Quinn as an audiobook. I’m not sure if it was because it was an audiobook or what, but I didn’t find it to be as interesting or useful as Tobias. Some of the strategies were good (automate everything, save for retirement before anything else), and the section on saving for college was far more comprehensive than Tobias. But overall, I don’t particularly recommend Quinn’s book.
Next up is After Dark, the latest novel from Haruki Marukami.
