Brian The totals are in. Drum roll please.... Marshall Road ES broke its record today with 342 students who walked or biked to school. 62 of those biked, which also broke our record (thanks to Kieran for that extra one today to put us over the top). Those 342 students represent 52% of our total population, and 143% of our "walking" population, which means we got a TON of kids out of school buses and walking or riding to school. Way to go!!!

Brian Bike to Work Day *and* the last day of the Bike/Walk challenge. I'm worn out already.

|
Brian We topped 300 bikers and walkers this morning at MRES! Woohoo! 61 bikes and over 250 walkers. Way to go!

Brian Dammit. RIP Chuck Brown, godfather of go-go. So glad I got to see him perform last year. A true DC legend.

Brian Had my throat doctor followup today. All looking good, no signs of permanent damage. Which means tomorrow I get to have coffee!!!
|
|
|
Brian 297 walkers and bikers at Marshall Road ES today, our highest total so far this week. Soooo close to 300!
|
|
|
Brian Marshall Road ES doubled the number of walkers and bikers today: 227 total! Since we only have 232 students in our designated walking area, that's a pretty great result. Tomorrow looks to be an even better day too, I bet we get over 300.

Brian Just squeaked over 100 walkers this morning at MRES. And one biker! (Yay, Shelby!) Not bad for such an awful weather day. Here's hoping for better weather the rest of the week!

Brian Smart kids. No one at the bike train meeting point. Hopefully some suck it up and walk. Already saw Kieran Leogue!

Brian Decaf coffee is such a fucking tease.

Brian Pretty great kids today. Evan "made" Greek yogurt with Special K, because that's how she likes to eat her cereal. Ellie made toast with Speculoos. Happy Mother's Day!

Brian Another successful afternoon bike train. Rain held off long enough, woohoo!
|

Brian The radar looks clear for the MRES bike train this morning. See you at 8:30 at Meadow Lane Park, or we'll pick you up along our route!

Brian Mayor's in favor.... Looking good.

Brian Bryce Harper is pretty amazing. He may have gotten into the lineup due to injury (and will stay there now that Werth is hurt), but he's earned the right to stay there with his hustle on every play. Strongly considering taking the boy to the day game on May 15 if I can get someone to take over the afternoon bike train duties....

Brian Finally caught a break: I was able to unstick our front door and get it straightened out by tightening the hinges a bit. Yay, DIY!

Brian Good news: getting discharged from the hospital tonight! Woohoo!

|

Brian Finally out of Trauma ICU and into a regular room. Apple juice never tasted better and I get to eat dinner tonight. Hoping for a good night's sleep too.

|
Brian Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Still in the trauma ICU waiting for the doc to tell me whether I need to stay longer or if I can go home. At this point I will settle for getting to eat hospital food. Let this be a lesson to you kids: always keep your eye on the ball!

Brian I think Ellie had fun at Bring Your Child to Work Day today. She "won" an iTunes gift card when I helped her answer which was the newest country. See if you know without looking it up. Your hint: it became an independent state July 9, 2011.

Brian Very successful MRES bike train! 7 students ride the whole way, and we picked up a few more along the route and end up with around 15-18 total. And one kindergartner too! Thanks to all who helped out and all who rode.

Brian The MRES bike train begins today! See you at 8:30 at Meadow Lane Park, or we'll pick you up anywhere along our route.

Brian The poison ivy rash seems to have turned a corner over the weekend. The poor family had to put up with staring at my ugly arms as part of the bargain (airing them out seemed to help the most), but it finally seems to be drying out and starting to heal. Hooray!

Brian If there is any greater demonstration of ADD than a t-ball game, I haven't seen it. Too funny!

Brian My wife just sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." As a lullaby. First t-ball game tomorrow!
